Plänterwald in change: New concept for affordable living space!
In August 2024, the Treptow-Köpenick district began developing an internal development concept (IEK) for the Plänterwald residential area. This concept, which was initiated by the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living, aims to create perspectives for future -oriented settlement development. In particular, the social and ecological aspects of urban development are observed.
The IEK is intended to help create affordable living space and at the same time secure a livable quarter in the Plänterwald. Those responsible check different areas for their potential for additional residential development in order to meet the needs of the residents. The existing infrastructure is also examined to identify and remedy existing deficits in social institutions, health care, green areas and commercial offers. A multifunctional use of the rooms, which also includes mobility -friendly solutions, is also sought.
similarities with previous concepts
The new concept is based on the integrated urban development concept (ISEK) from 2021, which was developed with the participation of the population. It fits into the other urban planning measures in the "Living Center Baumschulenstraße-Köpenicker Landstrasse". In 2023, the "Grüner Anger" open space concept and a traffic examination for Baumschulenstrasse were also created, the results of which flow into the current internal development concept.
For the implementation of the project, the urban development office Treptow-Köpenick cooperates with Kosp GmbH, an office for urban development and project management. The goal is to finalize the visions and concepts by spring 2025 and to present the public.
From September 27, 2024, interested parties have the opportunity to find out more about the Mein.Berlin.de platform and to contribute their suggestions by October 15, 2024. In addition, a public event will be planned in October 2024 to enable citizens to participate. Information about the event will be announced in good time, both by notices in the area and through advertising measures.
For questions or comments on the internal development concept, citizens can contact the urban planning department directly. Inquiries are by email to ek-plaenterwald@ba-tk.berlin.de possible
Overall, the IEK is regarded as a significant step for the advanced and sustainable development of the Plänterwald in order to meet the challenges of an urban environment and to meet the needs of the residents.
