Large plasters are exchanged for cheop paving: street work in Florian-Geyer-Straße
On June 17, 2024, the street and green space office will replace the large pavement of the road in Florian-Geyer-Straße with so-called cheop paving. This change not only serves to standardize the road surface in the course of the first construction phase from Dörpfeldstrasse to Altheider Strasse, but is also intended to improve the seepage of rainwater in the street.
The repair work is expected to take three months and require a full closure of the street. Due to the low road width, it is not possible to set up an emergency driving lane during the construction work. For safety reasons and due to structural requirements, a full closure is essential.
Pedestrians are not affected by the construction work, but motor vehicles have to bypass the construction area on Florian-Geyer-Straße for the construction period. Cyclists are asked to bypass the construction area or to get off and use the sidewalk.During the construction period, the adjacent properties remain within walking distance and the access for emergency and emergency vehicles is guaranteed at any time.
The cheops pavement will help improve rainwater management in Florian-Geyer-Straße due to its water-permeable properties. This measure is part of a long -term strategy for modernizing and improving the infrastructure in the urban area.
