Memorial exhibition shows the fate of persecuted district prescribed
The current exhibition in Schöneberg and Tempelhof tells the stories of persecuted district prescribed, who were known for their political work in the neighborhood. Photos and documents are shown that report layoffs, anti -Semitic exclusion, resistance, detention and murder. The exhibition is presented in the Sa prison Papestraße memorial location and in the Schöneberg town hall, in the exhibition rooms of "We were neighbors" and in front of the Tempelhof town hall. Under the patronage of the district councilor Stefan Böltes, the exhibition is a cooperation between the Tempelhof-Schöneberg museums with the active museum fascism and resistance in Berlin e.V. and "We were neighbors". Accompanying the exhibition program, exhibition talks, lecture evenings and historical city tours take place.
at a time when the memory of the horrors of National Socialism is becoming increasingly important, the exhibition offers an insight into the fate of those who have been pursued and suppressed due to their political beliefs. The exhibition is not only a memory of the past, but also a warning for the future to work for democracy and human rights.
The opening of the exhibition on April 18, 2024 is accompanied by top-class personalities, including Stefan Böltes, head of the district council of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, and Tobias Dollase, district councilor for school, sports, further education and culture. Curators and experts will present the exhibition, including Marie Lührs, Heike Stange and Prof. Dr. Nils Diederich, grandson of one of the persecuted district prescribers. The moderation is Dr. Irene von Götz, Head of the Department of Art, Culture, Museums and the Museums Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
It is important to deal with the story and fate of those who have suffered in dark times for their beliefs. The exhibition offers an opportunity to honor these people and carry their legacy so that their fight against oppression and intolerance is not forgotten.
