The 17 French students of the 5th and 6th classes of the Scharmützelsee primary school carried out a bold school exchange from March 4 to 10, 2024 with two teachers in the twin town of Charenton-Le-Pont. Despite low language skills, they were housed in host families and experienced everyday life in a French primary school. The primary school Anatole France, which has been a partner school for almost two years, received visitors from Berlin with open arms and enabled a warm exchange.

During their stay, the German students also explored the sights of Paris, such as the Louvre, the Tuileries, the Montmartre and the Eiffel Tower. They enjoyed the culinary specialties of France such as baguette, Fromgage and tartelette from the local pastry shop. Particularly noteworthy is the warm recording by the headmistress Madame Ballayer and teacher Madame Greens, who had organized the entire stay.

The Mayor of Charenton-Le-Pont, Hervé GiCquel, surprised the group with a generous reception. They were allowed to visit his office space, admire his buddy bear collection and, as a memory, received a glass of honey from the community and a photogrussian home.

The school exchange is to take place next year a return visit by the students from Charenton-Le-Pont in Berlin. The anticipation for this encounter is already noticeable.
