Telekom invests in the expansion of the mobile phone supply in the Zwickau district
Deutsche Telekom has promoted the expansion of mobile phone supply in the Zwickau district in the past two months. The expansion of three locations with 5G not only increased the area coverage, but there is also more bandwidth available. In addition, the reception in buildings improves. The new locations are located in the municipalities of Wildenfels and Zwickau and also serve to supply along the railway lines of Saxony-West.
The increasing demand for bandwidth, which increases by around 30 percent every year, is one of the main reasons for the expansion of the mobile network. "That is why we continue to pace in mobile phone expansion," explains Georg von Wagner, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.
With the new locations, Telekom is now operating a total of 127 mobile phone locations in the Zwickau district. The household cover is almost 100 percent. A further 18 locations are planned by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are intended on 56 radio masts.
In order to be able to carry out these extensions, Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or the owners of the areas. The German radio tower is responsible for the expansion of Telekom mobile phone locations. The company currently operates more than 36,000 mobile phone locations and is planning around 1,500 new locations annually.
