SWR vocal ensemble receives Leopold Prize for children's CD in Baden-Baden

A reason to celebrate for the SWR vocal ensemble! It has won the coveted "Media Prize Leopold - Good Music for Children" for the captivating CD "The Emperor New Dress"! This masterpiece, which is based on the timeless fairy tale by Hans-Christian Andersen, convinced the jury and prevailed against over 100 other submissions.

The big evening of the award ceremony was on September 27th when the SWR vocal ensemble saw the spotlight again - for the third time! Previously, they were awarded in 2015 for "the emperor Nachtigall" and in 2021 for "The Little Mermaid". A true feat that shows that the musical narrative art lives and pulsates in the children's area!

The music on this award -winning CD comes from the talented Latvian composer Ugis Praulin. And as if that weren't already a highlight: the well -known German cabaret artist and entertainer Lars Reichow takes on the role of the narrator. What a combination that the small listeners will captivate and inspire!

The musical direction took place under the capable conduct of Florian Benfer, and the CD was published by Helbling-Verlag (S8793cd). The result? A real festival for the ears that inspires children and adults alike!

An annual competition for outstanding child production

The "Media Prize Leopold" has been awarded every two years by the Association of German Music Schools (VDM) since 1997, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Family, Seniors, Women and Youth. He emphasizes the best music productions for children, which are both entertaining and high quality. The supporters also include Kulturradio WDR3, the Listen initiative e. V. and the App Music Research Center of the University of the Arts Berlin. A real lighthouse in the world of children's culture!

The SWR vocal ensemble with this award shows once again that good music is not only possible for children, but can also be presented particularly impressively. A high on the creative minds that are behind such projects!
