Tempelhofer Feld: Raed Saleh wants to use area gently
Last weekend SPD parliamentary group leader Raed Saleh met with the Berliner Zeitung B.Z. For a summer interview. Instead of in the office, he chose the Tempelhofer Feld as a place for the conversation. Saleh has big plans for the area of the former airport. Although he would like to leave the field as it is, he also recognizes the need to use it for future generations. Above all, the social is important to him - the field should remain accessible to everyone and offer normal earners affordable living space. Saleh emphasizes that luxury Lofts should be avoided on the Tempelhofer Feld and instead suggests use for social institutions such as a dementia village, senior living projects or a nature day care center. According to Saleh, his concept could receive 60 to 70 percent approval in a new referendum.
In the interview, Saleh also spoke about further political issues. He demands an opening clause from the federal government in order to be able to limit rents and to intervene in a regulatory manner as the state of Berlin. In addition, landlords should be involved in the costs of energetic renovation so that the tenants do not have to pay completely. Saleh also commented on the topic of AfD height flight. He emphasizes that it is important to take the fears of these voters seriously and get into conversation with them. Saleh is convinced that most AfD voters do not have a closed racist world view and it is necessary to listen to them.
In terms of the state budget, Saleh emphasizes that the district policy of Neukölln is often concerned with attention, which fills the newspapers but rather annoys people. It was agreed that the districts will be provided with additional 100 million euros. Saleh also gives insights into his personal preferences: he likes to relax at Lake Groß-Glienick and like classic ice cream such as vanilla and hazelnut. He also comments on politics: real friendships are rare in politics, but he appreciates Franziska Giffey and works well with her. There is no friendship with Kai Wegner, but there is a professional cooperation.
in terms of cooperation with the CDU, Saleh is satisfied. In the past, projects that have a social democratic manuscript have already been worked on together. However, he criticizes communication with regard to the topic of cycle paths that can be expanded. On the other hand, he appreciates traffic senator Manja Schreiner from the CDU because she does not act ideologically and has the big picture in view. As for his vacation, Saleh prefers to spend it with his family by going for a walk and enjoying the time together.
With the interview, Raed Saleh gives interesting insights into his political beliefs and plans for the Tempelhofer Feld as well as his view of current political issues. It remains to be seen how his ideas are received by the population and the decision -makers.
