This year the second partnership run with the title "Virtual European Run 2024" will be held on the initiative of Spandaus partner town of Asnières-sur-Seine. This run is supported by the partnership associations of both cities and the municipalities and is aimed at all residents who enjoy movement and the idea of partnership.
District Mayor Frank Werwig emphasizes the importance of the city twinning and praises the Spandauer partnership association for the creative implementation of the idea of partnership by virtual euro run. The run offers an uncomplicated way to strengthen the city twinning, also in digital form.
Participation in the run is simple: Interested parties can register free of charge on the website www.virtuellerereuropalauf.de and complete one of the three disciplines (10 km jogging, walking or cycling without an electric motor). The service provided can then be entered in the period from May 9th to 16th, whereby the participants can flexibly decide when they want to cover the 10 km.
The run is aimed at all people from 16 years of age in Berlin Spandau or Asnières-sur-Sur. The activity can take place in a freely chosen place and at any time, as it is a "virtual run". A smartphone with a tracking app or a fitness/smart watch can be used to record the performance, whereby a screenshot with the results (route, time) is required for checking.
The event not only serves to activity, but also to strengthen the partnership relationship between Asnières-sur-Seine and Spandau. Participants have the opportunity to contribute to promoting the cohesion between the two cities through their active participation.
