A big day for the Astrid Lindgren primary school! Today, the new modular supplementary construction in wooden construction was ceremoniously opened with a musical festival and a symbolic handover of the keys. Among the top -class guests: Headmistress Gabi Dietrich, Berlin's State Secretary for Tenant Protection and Housing, Stephan Machulik, Spandau's district mayor Frank Webigig and School City Councilor Dr. Carola Brückner! These events simply not be unnoticed!
After only ten months of construction, the three -storey building shines and is now a real place of education! The Holz-MEB (modular supplementary construction) was completed in June and is now ready to supply the students with fresh, creative learning rooms. And the best? Everything was realized so quickly, thanks to the high prefabrication! Everything important such as windows and house technology came together at the factory and was then fixed on site. The outdoor facilities will soon be fully admired!

The new supplementary construction now offers 14 classrooms, two specialist rooms, eight division rooms and even cozy seat niches. Not to forget the bright cafeteria with an output kitchen that offers space for 100 hungry children! The use of wood not only ensures an excellent indoor climate, but is also a gift to the environment. The green roof garden and a modern photovoltaic system make this building a prime example of sustainability!

Our strategy-to create new school places at lightning speed-bear fruits. In just ten months from the first hustle and bustle to the key handover! And that is only the beginning: by 2026 we will provide a total of 32 new school places all over Berlin! "

Overall, this is the 21st Holz-Meb in Berlin and the second in Spandau. The impressive construction project cost around 10.1 million euros and once again shows how innovation is lived in school education. This is the dream of future education in a sustainable environment-and the Astrid Lindgren primary school now leads the top!
