digitization as a cultural mandate
The digitization of archives is not only promoted in Spandau, but also in other Berlin cultural institutions. The cultural administration promotes the digitization of objects from archives, libraries, museums and memorials with the aim of digitizing outstanding cultural assets that are important for Berlin or the respective institution. Since 2014, the cultural administration has been relating to a competitive procedure for the promotion of digitization projects, accompanied by an external jury, depending on the available budget.
As part of these initiatives, the ZUE Institute Berlin has set up a service point that offers advice and provides digitization services for cultural institutions. Particular attention is paid to long -term archiving to ensure that the digitized content is preserved for future generations.
