Summer festival in Berlin: A day for young people – fun and participation!
On Saturday, July 5, 2025, the Jugendclubring Berlin e.V. invites you to a large summer festival of open youth work. This celebration will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Zillestraße 54 in Berlin and will be opened under the patronage of District Councilor Christoph Brzezinski. The event will be officially opened together with district councilor Heike Schmitt-Schmelz. The organizers have prepared a varied program that includes music, games and creative activities. Catering is also provided – food and drinks are provided.
The summer festival aims to highlight the importance of open child and youth work. This is crucial for the development of young people by opening up perspectives, strengthening cohesion and offering reliable support. Admission to the event is free; prior registration is not required. Further information can be found on the Zille54 website.
Participation and participation of young people
Open child and youth work (OKJA) plays an important role in the current political and social landscape in Germany. Given the challenges facing democracy, it is essential to actively involve children and young people in democratic processes. This is also shown by the nationwide “OKJA Day 2025”, which is planned for Friday, September 26, 2025. Promotions can be carried out flexibly during the week from September 22nd to 28th.
The OKJA not only offers places to experience democracy, but also the opportunity to contribute your own ideas and actively shape them. In 2024, over 1,000 actions demonstrated the commitment of those involved in open youth work. The aim of the campaign is to present the relevance of the OKJA to the public and to promote dialogue with politics and society. The actors have access to materials such as posters and social media graphics to document their activities and make them visible.
The continuous involvement of children and young people in decision-making processes has become increasingly important in recent years. In Baden-Württemberg, for example, young people have had a say in decisions that affect them since 2015. Current studies show that the number of municipalities with youth participation programs has increased from 53% in 2018 to 68% in 2024. These developments reflect a growing awareness of the need for young people to participate in social processes.
Campaigns such as “OKJA Day” and the activities of the youth club ring are essential for promoting equal opportunities and social participation for young people. A creative exchange and the opportunity to participate are central aspects that should also appeal to the future generation and actively involve them in society.
For further information and queries, the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Media Competence Center is available on telephone number (030) 209 69 44 70 and by email at kontakt@meko-cw.de.
When taking part in “OKJA Day”, we encourage you to get creative in order to make the concerns and needs of young people more heard.
