Summer reading in Mitte: Reading and winning for kids!
Berlin, Deutschland - The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, has announced the exciting summer challenge for young bookworms today. This initiative is specially intended for children between the ages of 8 and 12 and begins on July 14th and runs until September 5, 2025. The aim of the challenge is to animate children to read by reading books, listening to audio books and watching films. The participants receive a stamp for every book read, belonged to the audio book and the filmed film, which is intended to increase the incentive to participate. The campaign is crowned by a big final party on September 19, 2025, where there will be prices and a colorful program. The places of participation for the Sommer Challenge are the following libraries: the Philipp-Schaeffer library, the Bruno-Lösche-Librothek, the Schiller library and the library at the Luisenbad. Each participating child is invited to take part in the weekly club meetings in the libraries, which take place once a week during the summer vacation from July 24 to September 6, 2025. Students can also participate if they are not present at all meetings, which increases flexibility. Information on the exact dates will soon be published in a location list.

It is particularly positive that children who are absent during the entire summer vacation can also participate in the challenge. Individual information is available for you in the libraries. The final celebrations in September take place not only in the participating districts, but also in the central and state library Berlin. A award ceremony will be held at these celebrations, and all participants can look forward to great prizes.
