Siemens Energy opens green hydrogen factory in Moabit - a milestone for Berlin.

according to a report by www.rbb24.de Siemens Energy in Berlin opened a factory for the production of electrolysis devices to produce green hydrogen. Within the next twelve months, Siemens Energy is planning to produce electrolysis devices with an output of a gigawatt. This should increase to three gigawatts by 2025, which could theoretically lead to around 300,000 tons of hydrogen annually. The production capacity of the factory is said to be among the largest worldwide. The production facility in Berlin-Moabit is intended to produce materials for the production of membranes and cells, while assembly takes place in other locations such as Mühlheim. Furthermore, it is a joint venture with the French industrial company Air Liquide, which required investments of 30 million euros and received additional funding from the Federal Ministry of Research. The arrival of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the opening ceremony indicates the importance of the project for the federal government, which is also evident in the ongoing discussions about state guarantees for long -term major projects.

As a Berlin citizen, I am happy about the opening of the Siemens Energy Factory in Moabit for the production of electrolysis devices. This is a significant step in implementing the energy transition in our city. By producing green hydrogen, up to 15 percent of the annual carbon dioxide emissions of Berlin can potentially save. The creation of around 400 jobs and the investment in the existing factory hall are also significant for the regional economy.

The construction of one of the world's largest production facilities for electrolysis devices in Berlin is an important step towards sustainable energy supply and contributes significantly to the achievement of the climate goals.
