A total of 2,248 school places were set up at 17 high schools in the district, which corresponds to 80 classes. It is particularly gratifying that 1,756 students from Treptow-Köpenick have received a place at their first wish.

a lack of school places in Berlin
While Treptow-Köpenick can see some success, there is a serious lack of school place in other districts. In Pankow in particular, an increase in registrations for secondary and community schools was determined by 300 compared to the previous year. According to the reports from
The current challenges are particularly noteworthy: new access requirements for high schools have increased the pressure at secondary schools. Registrations at high schools are distributed more even this year, which ensures a certain relaxation compared to previous years. Nevertheless, schools such as the Friedensburg Oberschule in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf are heavily overloaded with 305 applications for only 104 available places. An example of the difficulties of choosing the school place is the situation of Martin, a sixth grader from Pankow. He specified a high school in Weißensee as a first request, but was assigned to a high school in Wilmersdorf, which is 55 minutes away and has another focus. Martin's father plans to object to the school administration, which indicates the unpredictability of the student hikes, which makes planning for the districts difficult. In Treptow-Köpenick, 247 students received no place at their desired school, while 104 young people are without any school. Despite the fact that 1,962 school places are available in the district, 337 children from other districts are also admitted. The education system is faced with massive challenges, and the red-green-red coalition has already decided 200 million euros for a school building offensive to improve the situation in the long term. District City Councilor Marco Brauchmann emphasizes the need to simplify the transitional procedure. For this purpose, a hotline was set up, which can be reached from today until July 25, 2025. If you have any questions about the transitional procedure in the 7th grade, parents can contact (030) 90297 3308. The hotline is occupied on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Problem of the choice of school place
