Correction of reporting: List of species in the changed Federal Nature Conservation Act corrected
The BVB/Freie Voter Group in the Brandenburg state parliament has published a message on its website, in which it is claimed that the "wind power bird shrede" continues on the basis of a changed Federal Nature Conservation Act. The competence center nature conservation and energy transition (KNE) has now published a correct position on this message.
According to the BVB/Freie Voterer Group, the number of breeding bird species from 35, which is considered to be collision, was reduced to only 10 species. However, the KNE makes it clear that the federal legislature in 2022 in the amended Federal Nature Conservation Act set a final list with 15 breeding bird species at risk of collision. A list of 12 species was originally proposed, but after technical consultations, three other species were included in the list.
It is important to note that the deletion of certain types of the list does not mean that more killings of these species are now taking place. In fact, some of the painted species such as Auerhuhn, Birkhuhn, Haselhuhn, Alpenschnehuhn and Waldschnepfe in Brandenburg do not occur. The seagulls, which are shown in the report of the BVB/Freie Voterer Group, are also not one of the bird species at risk of collision.
The KNE is a competence center, the task of which is to objectify controversial debates based on current scientific knowledge. It offers advice and extensive specialist information and supports a natural energy transition on site. The KNE was founded in 2016 and is supported by the environmental foundation Michael Otto and financed by the Federal Environment Ministry.
The following table lists the breeding bird species at risk of collision, which were determined in the amended Federal Nature Conservation Act:
Art
—————————-
Eisboger
Fish eagle
Floor rain pipes
Kiebitz
Kolkrabe
Mornell pipes
Remedies
Red kite
Sea eagle
Stone gatherer
| Shot
Quail king
White stork
Wiesenpieper
Dwarf Seekwalbe
It is important to note that the list of the breeding bird species at risk of collision is based on the list in the amended Federal Nature Conservation Act. No information about the effects of this law on Brandenburg in the press release of the KNE was provided. Further information can be found on the KNE website.
