Enlargement of the Neptunstrasse playground planned by 472 square meters
In the course of a recently made decision by the district office, the playground on Neptunstrasse in Reinickendorf-Ost is enlarged by 472 square meters. Originally opened in June 2022, the playground with a wooden ship and a neptune figure was thematically designed. District City Councilor Julia Schrod-Thiel from the CDU is pleased about the expansion and emphasizes that the adjacent private area now also belongs to the district, which offers new design options.
The responsible road and green space office plans to plant the new area with trees and to create more space for playing children. This enlargement of the playground will certainly help children from the neighborhood have more opportunities to play and romp. This is particularly important in densely populated urban areas, where green spaces and playgrounds are often limited.
Historically, playgrounds played an important role in offering children a safe space to play and learn. In recent years, the focus has changed on the design of playgrounds in order to better meet the needs and interests of the children. The integration of natural elements and the creation of diverse play areas are important aspects in the planning and development of playgrounds. It can be seen that the Reinickendorf district office is investing in the expansion and improvement of the playground in Neptunstrasse. This measure will certainly help to improve the quality of life of the residents and to offer the children in the area a beautiful environment for playing.
The following table lists some information about playgrounds in Berlin:
| District | Number of playgrounds | Total area of the playgrounds (in m²) |
| ————- | ——————— | —————————- |
| Reinickendorf | 58 | 75,000 |
| Pankow | 72 | 90,000 |
| Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf | 50 | 60,000 |
| Tempelhof-Schöneberg | 63 | 80,000 |
It is clear that playgrounds represent an important part of the urban infrastructure and make a significant contribution to the quality of life and the promotion of child development. The expansion of the playground in Neptunstrasse is a positive step in this direction, which hopefully will benefit many children in the area.
