Reinickendorf starts with the Fuchs Parliament: Young voices are now part of it!
Reinickendorf, Deutschland - On June 12, 2025, the Children's and Youth Parliament Reinickendorf was officially founded in the Haus der Jugendbau. Over 120 children and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 19 from the district took part in the opening meeting. This exciting project should not only promote political commitment, but also offer a platform for the voice of young people. Youth Councilor Alexander Ewers (SPD) was positive about the great interest and commitment of the young participants.
The name of the parliament was democratic: The name "Reinickendorfer Fuchs-Parliament" was chosen with a large majority. During the first session, the young people discussed various important topics, including school, leisure activities, climate protection and traffic. In order to develop concrete ideas, workshops and discussion groups took place in which the methodology and organization of parliament were discussed.
long -term political participation
Working groups will be formed in the coming months and the first speakers are to be chosen. Parliament's goal extends to the short -term implementation of ideas: "We want to enable children and adolescents to participate long -term political participation, regardless of origin, education or life situation," emphasized Ewers. The project is financed by the Reinickendorf district office and takes place in cooperation with the sponsor "No offside! E.V.".
This initiative is part of a larger national framework. The National Action Plan for Child and Youth Participation (NAP), which runs until 2025, was launched by the Federal Ministry of Youth and aims to strengthen the direct and visible participation of young people. Central results of this plan include the development of a central participation platform and clear legal rules for the inclusion of young people in relevant decisions. In addition, the NAP aims to reduce barriers and promote support from specialists in order to ensure equivalent treatment of all young people in participation processes.
promotion of democracy and commitment
youth participation not only offers young people the opportunity to bring their opinions into politics, but also promote basic democratic values such as say and equality. Various formats of youth participation, such as the Reinickendorfer Fuchs Parliament, strengthen, for example, the ability to deal with political questions and to articulate one's own opinion.
Nevertheless, there are challenges that need to be addressed. The sustainability of such projects must be checked in order to avoid frustration among young people if they are temporarily included without long -term influence. In addition, special hurdles for young people, girls and adolescents from rural regions should be taken into account so that the advantages of youth participation are accessible to everyone.
The "Strong Children's and Youth Parliaments" initiative is also mentioned as a supporting element in order to promote municipal parliaments through advice and qualification. The end of the approach is the strengthening of existing networks and the exchange between the actors in the area of youth participation, which is an effective basis for future political participation.
The Reinickendorfer Fuchs Parliament is therefore not only a local, but also an important example of a successful process in child and youth participation, which is followed up in accordance with the nationwide guidelines.
