Her thanks went to the award winners for their tireless efforts in the community: "We are already giving the honorary award for the eleventh time today. Her work not only makes life here, but does not leave anyone alone!"

appreciation of the heroes of everyday life

The winners of the evening were true role models!

  • Ursula Moritz and Dietmar Falk : These two special citizens are the silent heroes of the VDK. Mr. Falk not only helps with purchases, but also in emergencies - often faster than the nursing service! The 90-year-old Mrs. Moritz cooks warm food and helps wherever she can. Your goal? The best possible supply for the one she looks after!
  • Ulrike Dammköhler : formerly active in a hospital, she quickly realized that the working clock did not match the real needs of people! Now she volunteers supports neighbors and transforms everyday life for three people. She gets up ten times a month to help an older lady with a wheelchair. What an assignment!
  • Jürgen Marx : This man not only put the quadriga on the Brandenburg Gate, but also works for the neighbors! Since 2016 he has been involved in "Neighboring Advice" and takes care of many everyday challenges. He has an open ear for everyone who needs support.
  • Ines Hirschberger , Norbert Drabsch and Frank Zemke : These three are committed to the dementia living communities of Advita. Whether at newspaper shows or in legal care - they bring light into the life of the residents. Mr. Drabsch is a veteran of volunteering - for 20 years he has been taking care of insurance and medical matters for 20 years!
  • Pascal Stolzenberg : A very special wow factor! After a motorcycle accident, he blind in 2011 and fought his way back to life. Today he is a technology Aficionado and heads a group in the self-help center Reinickendorf that deals with the challenges of visual impairment. His message? Nothing can stop you if you have the will!

a festival of inclusion and enthusiasm

Regina Vollbrecht let those present participate in their impressive experiences from last year. The event, equipped with translations in light language and German sign language, was an impressive sign of inclusion and joy.

Eva Siewert and some sixth graders from the Friedrich-Engels-Gymnasium presented the fascinating project "Tangible Sign Language". These great initiatives once again show how important commitment in the community is!
