As part of the "Sustainable Renewal" program of the Urban Development Funding of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living, construction site management took place on July 5, 2024 on the new canteen of the Markt Twain primary school. The leadership was accompanied by School City Councilor Harald Muschner (CDU) and urban development city councilor Korinna Stephan (B’90/Greens).
The new cafeteria will not only be a place of food supply, but also offer a multifunctional space that supports the needs of the students. According to the school councilor Harald Muschner, the finished cafeteria will inaugurate next year and offer the students a space that promotes their school and personal development.
City councilor Korinna Stephan emphasized the urgency of the project and the need to create the rooms for the food supply. The new cafeteria will offer 199 seats and can be used in three rounds at lunchtime. It will also be equipped with modern media technology, which can also be used for other purposes.
The total costs for the construction amount to € 4,754,000, and the planning began in 2021. The building permit was granted in October 2022, and construction was started in December 2023. The canteen commissioning is planned for September 6, 2025.
