Volunteering in sports: Dieter-Braunsdorf medal introduced
A new shine for the Reinickendorfer Sport! The district sets an important sign of appreciation and initiates the Dieter-Braunsdorf medal, an award for all those who are tirelessly fighting for sports! This medal in bronze, silver and gold will be awarded in the future people who are particularly committed to sport. It bears the name of a true sports hero: Dieter Braunsdorf, who left us last year, at the blessed age of 89.
Braunsdorf, not only an honorary member of the Club Tegel, was an integral part of the Reinickendorfer sports landscape for decades. His commitment to the active rowing career, be it as a trainer or in numerous voluntary positions - including impressive 16 years as chairman of the sports committee - will remain unforgettable. With passion he even organized the popular "lard stull run". His merits were not unnoticed: the Federal Cross of Merit was just one of his many honors.
a tribute to volunteering
"Dieter Braunsdorf showed us all what is possible with volunteering for sport and the community," explains district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU). "With this medal we would like to honor the people who, like him, willingly dedicate their time and energy to sport in Reinickendorf." It is a worthy gesture that comes to the fore the importance of volunteering.
The ceremonial award of the medal will take place on November 29, 2024. An event that many are looking forward to! District Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner and district councilor Harald Muschner (CDU) will present the awards and thus duly appreciate the merits of the award winners.
