Red III: Federal Government does not use the potential of renewable energies
The President of the Federal Association of Renewable Energie e.V. (Bee), Dr. Simone Peter, critically comments on the planned implementation of the renewable guideline of the EU (Red III) by the federal government. With the Directive, the European Union has shown the will to accelerate the expansion of renewable energies and to set the legal framework for new possibilities of acceleration in the member states.
dr. However, Simone Peter criticizes that the federal government does not use this opportunity. According to their testimony, the draft speaker to implement the Directive in the area of wind energy on land and solar energy will only have a limited acceleration effect. In order to significantly improve the situation in wind energy, the federal government should revise the present draft. According to Dr. Simone Peter does not use sufficiently and instead unclear legal terms are introduced that create new uncertainties. With regard to the expansion of the solar energy, measures in the building and approval right should be introduced within the framework of the large building code amendment in order to achieve real acceleration.
Bioenergy also waits for the implementation of Red III. The Federal Government is called not to repeat the mistakes made in wind and solar.
It remains to be seen how the federal government will react to this criticism and whether the draft vocal draft is being revised in order to further advance the expansion of renewable energies in Germany.
In the following table, some facts about the expansion of renewable energies in Berlin are listed:
| Year | Installed power wind energy (in MW) | Installed performance solar energy (in MW) |
| —— | ———————————— | - --———————————
| 2010 | 243 | 89 |
| 2015 | 311 | 300 |
| 2020 | 412 | 642 |
| 2021 | 432 | 730 |
The data show a continuous expansion of renewable energies in Berlin, especially in solar energy.

It should be noted that Berlin has advanced plans to further advance the expansion of renewable energies. In 2030, the city is aiming to cover at least 25% of its energy consumption from renewable sources. The implementation of Red III could play an important role in achieving this goal.
The criticism of the Federal Association for Renewable Energie e.V. The planned implementation of Red III clearly expresses the concerns and demands of the industry. It remains to be hoped that the federal government will take this criticism seriously and take appropriate measures in order to effectively accelerate the expansion of renewable energies.
