Change in change: neighborhood walks in Berlin district museums

In the "Long Week of Kiez History" from May 25th to June 2, 2024, the focus is on "City in Change". All twelve Berlin district museums take part in this series of events. On May 25th and June 2, the Pankow Museum offers two neighborhood walks to extraordinary locations, to which all interested parties are cordially invited.

On May 25th, the first walk with the title "From Blankenfeld Schwarzwassersee to Stillen Don - a walk to Berlin's wastewater history" starts. It starts at 12:00 p.m. at the "Tractorista" café in the Blankenfelde city estate. The walk leads through the former Rieselfelder around Blankenfelde, which were used for wastewater cleaning and agriculture from 1880. The effects of this use are still visible today. After a tour of the exhibition and a walk through the Rieselfelder, there is the opportunity to exchange ideas in the café.

On June 2, the second walk with the title “90 meters above sea level - the Rümmerberg Oderbruchkippe in Prenzlauer Berg, a local exploration” takes place. The start is at 2:00 p.m. at the Volkspark Prenzlauer Berg, entrance gate Hohenschönhauser Straße. After the end of the war in 1945, the mountains of rubble served as a storage location for unusable rubble. Today they are places of relaxation and forgetting under which the history of the destroyed city is hidden.

Both events are free of charge, but registration is required due to limited capacities. Sturdy footwear is recommended. The "Long week of neighborhood history" is a project of the Working Group on Berlin Regional Museums (ABR), which enables the unknown and unusual history of Berlin to discover at various events.

Further information is available on the Pankow Museum.
