The district office Neukölln has to announce sad news: the former Neukölln district mayor and city councilor Hans-Dieter Mey has died. His special commitment to the district is valued by many and remembered well.
Hans-Dieter Mey was a man who found his calling in social work. With practical experience, he was committed to “his” district of Neukölln - initially eleven years as a district councilor for social issues and then from 1992 to 1995 as district mayor. His political companions describe him as a person who was always looking for compromise and compensation. He was careful to conduct the official business in the interest of a stress -free and constructive coexistence.
Hans-Dieter Mey died on January 16, 2024 at the age of 79. With his death, our city loses a committed person who has passionately campaigned for Berlin, who has been passionate about fellow human beings and social commitment.
The district councils will commemorate the deceased on the initiative of BVV head Karsten Schulze on January 24, 2024.
Hans-Dieter Mey leaves a deep and permanent track in the Neukölln district. His commitment to social issues is estimated by many people and his legacy will remain present in the future.
