Angelina Köhler: First German world champion in the pool in 15 years

Last Monday, 23-year-old Angelina Köhler swam in the pool after 15 years. In Doha, she only needed 56.28 seconds for the 100 meter butterfly and thus also secured her ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris this year. This outstanding performance was also recognized by district mayor Martin Hikel, who congratulated the athlete and SG Neukölln on success. With 5,200 members, SG Neukölln is the largest swimming club in Berlin and has produced the most successful swimmers in Germany in the past decades.

Martin Hikel describes the SG Neukölln as "goldsmiths for swimmers" and emphasizes the importance of Angelina Köhler as a shining model for the Neukölln district. The success of the athlete is intended to inspire the district office to create the best conditions for sport in this district.

The success of Angelina Köhler is not the first to celebrate SG Neukölln. The association has already produced successful swimmers in the past, including the former world champions Britta Steffen and Franziska van Almsick. The SG Neukölln thus has a long tradition in promoting swimming talents and makes a significant contribution to German swimming.

The following table lists some information about Angelina Köhler and their performance:
