Telekom improves mobile phone supply in the district of North Saxony

People in the North Saxony district can look forward to improved mobile phone supply. Thanks to the intensive expansion measures of Telekom in the past two months, a new location was built and six locations expanded with 5G. This leads to an increased mobile phone coverage in the region and an overall higher range. This also improves the reception in buildings. The locations are located in the municipalities, Dahlen, Liebschützberg, Mügeln B Oschatz, Trossin, Taucha and Wiedemar. In addition, the locations in Mügeln B Oschatz, Taucha and Wiedemar also serve to supply along the A9 and A14 motorways. The locations in Belgern, Dahlen, Liebschützberg, Mügeln B Oschatz, Taucha and Wiedemar also ensure better coverage along the Leipzig-Dresden, Brandenburg-Süd and Saxony-West.

"The need for more bandwidth increases continuously - around 30 percent annually. That is why we continue to put on speed when expanding mobile phone," says Georg von Wagner, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.

status and outlook

With the expansion, Telekom now has a total of 95 locations in the district of North Saxony. The coverage of households is around 98 percent. A further 43 locations are to be added by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned on 35 mobile phone masts.

Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or owners in order to rent areas for new locations. If someone wants to rent an area for a roof or mast location, they can contact the German radio tower: www.dfmg.de/standort on offer. The German radio tower is responsible for the construction of Telekom's mobile communications locations. Telekom currently operates more than 36,000 mobile phone locations and is also building around 1,500 new locations annually.
