New LED lighting for more safety on Leopoldplatz

New LED lighting for more safety on Leopoldplatz
A radiant sea of light now illuminates Leopoldplatz! The northern part, known as Maxplatz, and the area behind the old Nazarethkirche have experienced a breathtaking transformation through new, modern lighting. Where darkness and uncertainty once ruled, there are now 26 energy -saving and insect -friendly lights that should significantly increase the feeling of security of the passers -by!
With this spectacular measure of the street and green space office, the quality of stay is raised to a new level in the evenings. In particular, the path connections along the square are now brightly lit - a profit for everyone who is there in the evening.

The planning of the new lighting was done in close cooperation with the urban planning crime prevention as well as numerous local actors and public offices. A truly prudent step that was realized with a total budget of around 228,000 euros! These funds come from the Berlin security summit, which is strong for more security and cleanliness in public space, and from the program "Living Centers and Quarters" of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living.
District City Councilor Christopher Schriner explains: "The public space should be a place where all people feel comfortable and safe. The newly installed lighting increases the feeling of security of all people who are on Leopoldplatz. With many small and large measures, the district and Senate make the Leo more beautiful and safer together." This not only becomes more lively, but also inviting for everyone!

State Secretary Britta Behrendt from the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment emphasizes: "The previously illuminated Maxplatz was equipped with new lighting systems, as was the cross path between Turiner Straße and Nazarethkirchstrasse. Project has installed provisional lighting. " Now this central path shines in new light, thanks to the modern LED lights!
State Secretary Stephan Machulik from the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living adds: "Müllerstraße with Leopoldplatz is one of the 19 funding areas of our program Living centers and quarters. The aim is to revitalize and secure public space in our neighborhoods so that the Berliners and our guests feel good." Thanks to the better lighting, the area will soon gain attractiveness and increase the quality of life!
The new light on Leopoldplatz is a real sign for a safer and more inviting public space in Berlin. A festival for the senses and a big step in the right direction for all citizens!
