Opening exhibition Never again and now in Bärenzwinger Berlin

The exhibition "Never again and now" in the Bärenzwinger Berlin, which will open on May 8, 2024, deals with political border phenomena, especially right -wing extremism and fascist ideologies as well as the difficult handling of the legacy of National Socialism today. The artists Laura Fiorio and Jakob Ganslmeier present their artistic work, which deal with dealing with the Nazi past and radical ideologies. Laura Fiorio, born in 1985 and based in Berlin, uses photography, installation and research to explore how to deal with the Nazi past in families. She invites visitors to contribute personal contributions such as photographs or documents from family archives to the exhibition. Fiorio questions the dynamics of memory and linking personal and historical history.

Jakob Ganslmeier, born in 1990 and living in the Hague, is a visual artist and photographer who specializes in the disassembly of radical ideologies. His photo work in cooperation with Exit Germany addresses the traces and continuities of fascist symbols, especially in the form of tattoos. Ganslmeier's works have already been exhibited in renowned museums and awarded various prices.

The exhibition is supervised by curators Julius Kaftan and Lina Kröger and supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. Accompanying events such as workshops and theater performances complement the exhibition program to address a wide audience.
