traffic safety for children - an important topic
The sensitization of children for the dangers in road traffic is a central concern of traffic education. Practical educational work is already being done in schools like in Mettmann. The information about the "dead corner" is part of the cycling test in fourth grade. The district police authority and the Mettmann roundabout guard are focusing on cooperation with local institutions such as UPS to initiate training and to point out the dangers in road traffic.
The active collaboration enables practical exercises on trucks, which means that the students can develop a better understanding of the dangers in road traffic. These initiatives aim to increase the security of children and give important impulses for responsible traffic participation, as also formulated Sandro Wiechert from UPS.
Programs for day care centers
The German traffic watch also developed specific programs for day care centers. The “Children in Road Traffic” program (KIS) is aimed at educators and offers support in planning actions for traffic education. The moderators convey traffic education approaches that go into the behaviors of preschool children.
The second program, "Child and Transport" (KUV), is aimed at parents of kindergarten children. Here the parents receive practical tips and information about the traffic -safe upbringing of their children. Both programs are free of charge for daycare centers and offer extensive resources to promote traffic education.
The traffic safety of children in road traffic is and remains an important topic that is taken up in both schools and kindergartens. Through targeted programs and events, the aim is to sensitize the next generation to safe traffic practices.
