With the Germany ticket in France: new travel options for young Germans & French
for Ralf Damde, the chairman of the railway and transport union (EVG) in Saarland, is the new offer "Très Bien and Super". Damde emphasizes that this lived Europe and intercultural exchange promotes and the Franco-German friendship strengthens. He believes that such offers are urgently needed to promote the intercultural support of youth. According to Damde, fewer and fewer young Germans and French speak the language of their neighbors, which is why encounters and getting to know the European neighborhood are essential for a dialogue. He hopes that the youth use the D-Ticket's offer in large numbers and thereby lead to continuation and expansion. From the point of view, this would be a major contribution to the turnover of traffic.
The D-Ticket, including the young people's ticket SL and the D-Ticket Jugendbw, applies in July and August for people under the age of 28 with residence in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland in the French region of Grand Est. In order to be able to use the ticket, passport or identity card must be shown in order to prove the place of residence in one of the federal states mentioned. The tickets are valid in regional trains, but not on long -distance trains such as the TGV, ICE or IC. A free reservation via the "SNCF Connect" app is required on some French routes, as the Grand Est region announced.
This initiative of the D-Ticket is another example of the close relationship between Germany and France in the field of rail traffic. For decades, the two countries have been connected by rail traffic, which plays an important role in regional and international passenger and freight traffic. The close cooperation in the field of rail transport also has historical roots that go back to the time of the First World War. At that time, joint efforts were made to ensure smooth cross -border rail traffic.
The following table lists some information about the various tickets and the cover areas:
| Ticket | Covering area |
| ——————- | ——————————————— |
| D-Ticket | Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland |
| Young people ticket | Saarland |
| D-Ticket Jugendbw | Baden-Württemberg |
The initiative of the D-Ticket is an important step in the direction of a stronger link between the regions and promotes exchange between young people. This not only contributes to the deepening of Franco-German friendship, but also supports the acceptance of a climate-friendly and efficient rail transport. The EVG welcomes this initiative and hopes for a lively use by the youth to enable further offers in this direction.
