Rental price brake in criticism: Real estate industry warns of new rules

alarm on the housing market - real estate industry sounds an alarm!

The federal government has decided: the rental price brake is extended! But while politics cheers, the real estate industry is back in angry words. "This measure has not relaxed the housing market - that's a flop!" Iris Schöberl, the President of the Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA). It is unmistakable: "Further tightening in tenancy law would now be poison!"

The warning is clear and the pressure on political decision -makers grows. The rental price brake, originally introduced to combat the rental madness, is an unsuitable means of ending the acute lack of housing. "We urgently need more affordable living space! One thing has to be clear: don't just look at the existing laws, but finally create new living space!" So continue.

The ZIA calls for a new beginning

With every intervention in property, the ZIA becomes more critical. The rental price brake should be a temporary instrument, but now it is being considered to implement it permanently. Another stigma that wants to ward off the real estate industry with all my strength!

The turn in politics is positive for the ZIA: The Federal Government has taken the right course with the KfW program for new buildings in the low-price segment and the desired relief in the building code. "We have to consistently pursue this course so that investors who urgently want to create new living space will not be slowed down," Schöberl demands vigorously.

What does politics do?

The ZIA welcomes the new responsibility of the municipalities. You now have to prove which measures you take against the tense housing situation. "This is an important step in the right direction," praises Schöberl and demands more transparency and commitment at the local level.

In the undergrowth of the tenancy law reforms, a clear message can be seen: Politics must develop an action plan that creates more living space and not further regulations that only end in an oversupply. The situation on the housing market is tense, and the voices of the real estate industry are louder than ever!

The Central Immobilien Kreinch e.V. (ZIA), represented by around 37,000 companies, has not been established for nothing as the voice of an entire industry. The time for changes is now - because the Germans urgently need a home!
