Media prize of the Evangelical Church: Grimme prices for family topics

It is a triumph of sensitive reporting! The Robert Geisendörfer prize, one of the most sought -after awards in the German media area, recognizes two extraordinary productions this year, which appeal to the heart and mind. The Deutschlandfunk feature "Aschlochmama" and the special episode of the Kakadu podcast on the subject of anti-Semitism were chosen because they bravely and sensitively take up difficult topics and all stand up to think.

in a world in which taboos often remain hidden, Karen patterns with her feature "asshole. When parents and children argue" a relentless look behind the scenes of family conflicts. Who hasn't wanted the unadorned stories of one's own childhood? This production from 2023 draws your listeners into the often screaming chaos of family everyday life. The use of authentic noises - such as striking doors and violent shouting - makes the events live alive and ensures that many parents will inevitably nod: We are all like this!

The power of words and tones

The jury emphasizes how intense a look at family life is that is thrown here: "Nothing is as terrible and exciting as life with children." "Aslochmama" was not only nominated for the Robert Geisendörfer Prize, but also caused a stir with the Prix Europe - proof of its outstanding quality and relevance.

But the children also have their voice in this award ceremony! The Kakadu podcast sequence "What is anti-Semitism?" is aimed at the youngest and treated a burning question on November 28, 2023: How do we explain such a complex and threatening topic?
