Massive protest in Berlin: Against the Gaza war and for peace!
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, a large demonstration and rally against the Gaza war will take place in Berlin. Organized by an alliance of 50 associations, including the Palestinian Community of Germany, Medico International and Amnesty International, the event is held under the motto “All Eyes on Gaza – Stop the Genocide”. Organizers expect more than 50,000 participants to come to the solidarity rally. To protect the demonstrators, the police have mobilized 1,800 emergency services to ensure security during the protests and to control traffic restrictions in the city area, especially on the demonstration route.
The protest march, entitled “Together for Gaza,” will begin at the Neptune Fountain on Alexanderplatz. The route leads along Spandauer Straße, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, Unter den Linden, Wilhelmstraße, Dorotheenstraße, Scheidemannstraße and Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße and ends at Straße des 17. Juni at Großer Stern, where a final rally is planned from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants can look forward to performances by artists such as KIZ, Ski Aggu and Pashanim. The traffic authorities have already closed some roads from Friday to ensure smooth operations.
Demands and main criticism
The calls for demonstrations sharply protest against the war crimes and human rights violations committed by both sides, with the main criticism being directed at the Israeli government and its supporters. There are demands that Germany stop all arms deliveries to Israel. These demands are supported by prominent figures, including Michael Barenboim, who has described the situation in Gaza as “genocide.”
Some of the organizers had originally planned to hold the rally directly in front of the Reichstag building, but due to the expected number of participants, the location was moved to the Victory Column. While similar protests in Berlin have attracted up to 50,000 participants in the past, it is hoped that this rally will be the largest demonstration of solidarity for Gaza in Germany.
Background and relevance
Protests and demonstrations take place constantly around the world, often triggered by social injustices and human rights violations, such as in Iran, Belarus or Hong Kong. Berlin has developed into an important place for such movements in recent years. The protests for the Palestinian cause in particular have become more important and are attracting increasing international attention. International movements show how important it is to raise your voice against injustice, which also illustrates the motivation for the Berlin demonstration on September 27, 2025.
The ongoing conflicts and the need to raise awareness of humanitarian crises have resonated not only locally but also globally. Demonstrations are a form of peaceful protest to draw attention to the grievances and needs of those affected. Whether it’s the Arab Spring or the “Fridays For Future” protests, history shows that social pressure through such movements can lead to change.
