Safer Internet Day: VHS information evening for safe surfing

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the VHS Marzahn-Hellersdorf invites you to the district central library Mark Twain in Berlin for the information afternoon. The reason for the event is the "Safer Internet Day", where the adult education center wants to deal with the topic of how children can remain safe on the net. The event is aimed at parents who want to find out more about how to prepare their children for the use of the Internet and which measures should be taken to protect. The consultant of the information evening will be Kerstin Butenhoff. Admission is free, but you are asked to register via the VHS online.

Nowadays,

children are moving earlier and more independently on the Internet, be it via tablets, smartphones or game consoles. The event wants to support parents to accompany and protect their children in this environment. It should be informed about how devices can be set up safely and which measures should be taken to better protect children online.

The district central library Mark Twain in the Marzahner Promenade 55 is part of the extensive library network in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. In addition to the loan of books and media, the libraries also regularly offer events and courses for all ages.

In a table, for example, information on age-appropriate internet usage rules for children or tips for the safe furnishings of devices could be listed in order to provide parents concrete recommendations for action.

The "Safer Internet Day" is an initiative that takes place every year worldwide and has the goal of sensitizing the use of digital media for safe and responsible use of digital media. Events and actions are carried out to draw attention to the risks on the Internet and to promote prevention measures.

The district central library Mark Twain is a central point of contact for education and culture in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and, in addition to borrowing books and media, also offers a variety of events and courses for the residents of the district. The VHS Marzahn -Hellersdorf acts as an educational institution that offers a wide range of courses and events in various areas, including courses on media education and competence.

Participation in the event could therefore offer a good opportunity for parents to find out about the latest developments and recommendations in the field of media education and to exchange ideas with other parents.
