Discover the imperfect: opening of the exhibition in Berlin!
The meaning of the imperfect: new perspectives in art
On Saturday, September 21, 2024 , a remarkable step in the Berlin art scene will be dared, while the exhibition ! Nice imperfect! in MP43, a creative space at Stollberger Strasse 73. This event aims to remove the focus of conventional ideals of beauty and to initiate the discussion about the imperfect in art and society.
The curators Caroline Wagner and their daughter Emeline use various media to present a new perspective on the imperfection. The exhibition shows both drawings and photographs that capture everyday objects, humans and animals without adapting to the common, perfect beauty standards of social media. The works promote a positive examination of reality and show that beauty lies in the variety of imperfection.
A central aspect of the exhibition is the concept of the "double lottery": each motif is presented in two ways - once drawn and once photographed. This allows visitors to look at the works from different perspectives and to develop their own interpretation. Caroline and Emeline emphasize that it is not about a competition, but about a common exploration of beauty and reality.
In addition, Caroline Wagner actively invites visitors to participate. At the opening, those present can create their own imperfect works of art with an instant-image printer as well as colorful and felt pens. This initiative is intended to encourage participants to express their own creativity and to show that everyone has their place in the art world.
The exhibition ! Nice imperfect! runs until 5. October 2024 and therefore offers enough opportunity for a committed audience to deal with the works. The opening times are every Thursday and Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as well as by appointment - an invitation to discover in an open, creative space.
Caroline Wagner, who studied photography at the Ostkreuzschule, and the talented 10-year-old Emeline, show that artistic forms of expression are across generations. Her joint work is an example of how art can beat a bridge between different age groups and how the imperfect plays an important role in the creative discussion.
