Queenness in football - discussion with ethnologist and ex -player
On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, a conversation on the subject of “Queenness in Football” will take place at 7 p.m. in the Egon-Erwin-Kisch-Kisch-Libliothek in Berlin. The ethnologist Dr. Tatjana Eggeling will deal with questions about queer and football together with the former soccer player Marcus Urban. The conversation is part of the 2nd Lichtenberger Queeren Action Week and is intended to show why so few homosexuals, trans*- or inter*people are publicly known in football.
dr. Tatjana Eggeling is an ethnologist who specializes in field research on the LSBTIQ sports movement. She works as a consultant for homophobia and dealing with homosexuality in sports in Berlin. Marcus Urban is a former German football player who reports in his biography "hiding player" about homophobia in football. He founded the Association for Diversity in Sports and Society and the "Sports Free" campaign, which Queere Athlete: supported in professional sports.
In the conversation, Eggeling and Urban will discuss what can be done in football in order to create a non -discriminatory environment for all football fans, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity.
