Ceremonial opening: Modular primary school in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen
On Friday, March 1, 2024, the ceremonial opening of a modular primary school with a sports hall and outdoor facilities took place at Schleizer Straße 67 in 13055 Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. The three-tier primary school in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen district was planned and built as part of the Berlin school building offensive and in cooperation with the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living. The school-pedagogical concept of the Compermannschule enables a variety of teaching and learning situations by grouping the class and division rooms around a forum space.
The Senator for Education, Youth and Family, Katharina Günther-Lüsch, emphasized that the new school offers space for 432 schoolchildren in a bright and friendly environment and was built according to the comprehensive principle. The new building offers space for all-day offers, including education, appealing learning landscapes, barrier-free access, as well as sports and leisure activities such as a green classroom with school garden and table tennis panels.
The State Secretary of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living, Alexander Slotty, emphasized that modern and sustainable school meets the high demands on new school buildings and creates good conditions for contemporary learning and teaching with flexible and open learning landscapes. District Mayor Martin Schaefer was happy about the creation of new school places in Lichtenberg and emphasized the need for school places close to home for a family -friendly environment.
The district councilor and head of the school and sport division, Filiz Küllüoğlu, emphasized the importance of the new school building for school-facing school care in Alt-Hohenschönhausen and wished the school community a lot of joy in modern teaching and specialist rooms.
The new building was built according to the energy standard KfW Efficiency House 55 and includes rainwater management, green roof, photovoltaic systems and the use of sustainable building materials. The total costs including equipment, outdoor facilities and sports hall amount to around EUR 46.4 million. The modular construction with a high degree of prefabrication enabled a rapid, economic and sustainable implementation of the school building project, which has been completed in just two years since construction started in January 2022.
