Discussion on the culture of memory: leadership and conversation in the RK gallery
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the RK gallery invites you to finish the exhibition "Landscape. Memory" for a guided tour and an open talks. The artists: Inside Eva Beth and Torsten Oelscher will lead through the exhibition from 5 p.m. Afterwards there is a conversation with discussion about current positions on the culture of remembrance at 6 p.m.
The discussion participants: Inside, renowned personalities such as Dr. Habil. Steffi Hobuss from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and Dr. Felix Axster from the TU Berlin. The sound artist Katharina Pelosi and the artists: Inside Eva Beth and Torsten Oelscher will also take part in the discussion. The moderation is adopted by the Future Berlin Foundation by Christophe Knoch. Admission is free and registration in advance is not required.
The conversation format will present the results of a workshop that was carried out with students and was funded by the Study Foundation of the German People. In the workshop, the students discussed with the artists: Inside and Expert: Inside about the memory of Holocaust and colonialism, victim competition, debt shift, representation of violence, dealing with experiences of violence and the role of landscapes and places in memory practices. The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions and actively participate in the discussion.
The workshop was made by Dr. Habil. Steffi Hobuss in cooperation with Dr. Felix Axster organized and made possible by the Study Foundation of the German People.
This conversation format offers a unique opportunity to deal with current questions of the culture of memory and to discuss various perspectives. It promises a stimulating and informative event for all interested parties in art, history and culture of remembrance.
