Credit markets on record course: 200 billion euros for economic promotion

The loan banks set a sign! At the end of the first half of 2024, they recorded a sensational overall credite stock of 200 billion euros! This number, which is impressive 3.5 percent above the previous year, is not only a record, but also a sign of the strength that the credit institutions show in the middle of an uncertain economic climate. Jens Loa, Managing Director of the Bankenfachverband, emphasizes: "The loan banks promote the economy in an economic environment that is still highly uncertainty."

But what is behind these numbers? Consuming financing turns up! The consumer loan market shows a trendy turn. In the first half of 2024, the new business increased an impressive 8.1 percent to 28.8 billion euros after declining. Particularly striking: loans for free use, frequently completed on the Internet, increase by an impressive 16.3 percent to 16.1 billion euros! This shows that consumers are more trusted and are willing to start financially!

growth in investment loans

not only in the area of consumption finance the banks, but also in the business world there is an upward trend. The new loan to companies rose to 5.5 billion euros, which corresponds to an increase of 5.9 percent. The market for commercial vehicle financing is also growing. Here we have an increase of 1.5 percent. Overall, the financing of 568 thousand motor vehicles was made possible - that is 0.7 percent more than in the previous year!

Interestingly, there is also a decline in demand for electric vehicles: by 16.4 percent, the first half of 2024 went downhill. Jens Loa explains this by leaving the environmental bonus at the end of last year. "For technological change to e-mobility, the ride of the charging infrastructure is essential," continued Loa.

The numbers clearly show that the loan banks are on growth course in the first half of 2024! Whether consumption or investment - the interest is back and the banks are ready to revitalize the economy!
