Liecke: Criticism of daycare strike
In Berlin, the ongoing daycare strike has come across sharp criticism by Falko Liecke (CDU). In an interview with the RBB24 evening show, he commented on the effects of the strike on the children and parents on Monday. Especially in times of daycare celebrations, summer festivals and overnight parties, it is the children who suffer from the current situation. Liecke described Verdi's approach as irresponsible.
Although he showed understanding for the teachers' demands, Liecke emphasized that the country had no way of inflecting. The child-educator relationship is regulated by law and collective bargaining could only take place at the federal level with the collective bargaining community of the federal states.
The State Secretary of Family State admitted that the daycare system was not perfect and had discussions with those responsible, the providers and their own businesses. Solutions would be sought, but it is not possible to hire additional staff. However, Liecke emphasized that career changers are already being set, whereby the quality is always considered.
With regard to the demands of relief for the teachers, Liecke referred to their own solutions such as digitization, reduction in bureaucracy and daycare social work. He emphasized that 2.5 billion euros were already being invested in the daycare system annually.
The strike affects 280 state -owned daycare centers in Berlin, in which around 7,000 educators and other employees normally look after 35,000 children. The strip has been announced for the entire week.
