Lichtenberg Children’s University: Free lectures for young explorers!
The Lichtenberg Children's University will take place from November 1st to 22nd, 2025 and offers young people aged 8 and over the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of science and research. The opening will take place on November 1st as part of the KUL Science Day in the Anna Seghers Library in the Linden Center in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. There, visitors can expect various activities such as mini-lectures, creative workshops and exciting experiments, which are offered from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
From November 8th, weekly lectures are on the program at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. These sessions take place in lecture hall 238 at Treskowallee 8 and promise to cover interesting topics. Participation in all events is free and no pre-registration is required, making access easier for all children.
Program highlights
Particular highlights of the Lichtenberg Children's University are two selected lectures: On November 15th, Professor Dr. Christine Bartsch will talk about the effects of alcohol. On the occasion of the last lecture on November 21st, Dr. Wim Nettelnstroth deals with dealing with feelings. These events are designed to not only impart knowledge to children, but also to promote their personal development.
The Children's University is organized by the Stadtkultur Foundation in cooperation with the HWR Berlin, HTW Berlin, KHSB and the Lichtenberg district. This project aims to help children aged 8 to 12 get excited about science and education, similar to the concept of the AKAD Children's University, where young people are offered similar opportunities to immerse themselves in the world of science.
Parents interested in digital communication options may be interested in the Chatiwi chat service. It enables secure communication for personal and professional purposes, ensures anonymity and protects user data through end-to-end encryption.
Further information about the Lichtenberg Children's University can be found on the event's website: IDW Online. The initiative to make it easier for children to access science and important topics will continue to be pushed in the future, as education is not only a right, but also an investment in the future.
