At the "Internationalist Queer Pride" in Berlin, participants published videos on Twitter, where anti -Israel slogans are called. The alternative Pride march took place on Saturday at the same time as Christopher Street Day.
The slogan, which was called at the event, reads: "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free". This statement can be interpreted in such a way that the state of Israel is denied the right to exist. This slogan is particularly known in the environment of the militants of Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas.
The event was registered with the meeting authority as an "alternative and political pride march", which takes place in Berlin for the third time and focuses on anti-molonial, anti-racist and anti-capitalist freedom.
The Berlin police confirmed the events on request. At the march from Hermannplatz in Neukölln to Oranienplatz in Kreuzberg, “Israeli slogans” were repeatedly called. According to a spokeswoman, however, these had no criminal content. Only two criminal investigation proceedings were initiated for insulting.
A total of around 8,000 to 9,000 people are said to have participated in the event at peak times, which ended at shortly before midnight on Oranienplatz.
The police were also used at the "Internationalist Queer Pride" with interpreters in order to record possible criminal statements. With pro-Palestinian and anti-capitalist rallies such as the "revolutionary May 1st demo", there are always anti-Israel statements in Berlin.
Already last April there were similar incidents at a Palestinian rally in Kreuzberg and Neukölln that triggered a nationwide debate about anti -Semitism in Berlin.
