Inclusive sports festival in Berlin: Active on July 5th!

On July 5, 2025, the 2nd sports festival of the Blindenhilfswerk Berlin e.V. The event, which is celebrated in Rothenburgstrasse 15 in Berlin from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offers a varied range of sports and exercise for people with and without visual restriction. The day is rich in activities that promote both physical fitness and the sense of community.

The sports festival comprises numerous sports such as the blind football, goalball, showdown, fencing, archery, yoga, climbing, tandemae and biathlon shooting. This diversity enables everyone to take part in their skills and gain new experiences. In addition, hands -on activities and information stands are available for inclusive sports, healthy eating and first aid. Experts and active people are available for discussions and advice. The physical well -being is also taken care of, with delicious grill dishes and a selection of refreshing drinks.

participation and target groups

The event is aimed at all interested parties - individuals, friends and families, and actively promotes networking between people with different skills. The past sports festival, which took place on June 29, 2024, offered similarly interesting offers, including fencing, box climbing and dance. Participation of sports clubs and organizations such as the Berlin blind and visually impaired sports club e.V. contributed to the diversity of the activities and allowed visitors to make new contacts.

A highlight of the event is the opportunity for visually visiting visitor to try out the sports offers with eye mask - an experience that should promote understanding of the challenges of people with visual impairment. Driving together creates acceptance and tolerance and conveys skills that are transferable to other areas of life. According to the federal, state and municipalities for implementing inclusion, the attitude towards inclusion and integration in sport is positively influenced.

challenges in the inclusive sport

Despite the positive developments, there are challenges that need to be addressed. The current perception of inclusive sport has improved, but the level of organization of people with disabilities in sport is still below the average of the total population. Professor Thomas Abel from the German Sport University Cologne speaks of a sub -representation in the sporting area. In addition, the 2018 DOSB sports development report shows that only 35% of the sports clubs work inclusive, while the proportion of people with disabilities who do not exercise has increased to 55%.

The reasons for this are many times. Missing local, including sports offers and inadequate accessibility, are just a few of the factors that hinder a broader participation in sport. In addition, many sports facilities in Germany are not barrier -free and do not meet the requirements for barrier -free building. Only about 4% of public play, sports and leisure areas are designed inclusive. The German Olympic Sports Association is calling for a federal funding program to improve the sports infrastructure, since the estimated need for renovation for sports facilities in Germany is estimated at around 31 billion euros.

The 2nd sports festival of the Blindenhilfswerk Berlin e.V. offers an excellent opportunity to experience up close, including sports offers and to promote the importance of participation and community. Corresponding flyers are available for further information about the detailed program and the event offers. We invite all those interested to take part in this special day.
