Hurdles in the hydrogen network: plenty of bureaucracy slows progress

In today's energy fairy tales, hydrogen plays the main role, but bureaucracy threatens to force him to stand in the shadow empire! With a bang yesterday, the Federal Network Agency's consultation procedure to the "timetables for the conversion of the network infrastructure to the full supply of the connectors with hydrogen". But is that really the way for the energy transition, or does the bureaucratic over -regulation push a block on the leg?

Timm Kehler, the chairman of the industry association Future Gas, raises the alarm! The new requirements of the Federal Network Agency appear to him like an insurmountable obstacle: "In our view, the specifications are too complex and in many cases not affordable," explains Kehler with a concerned expression. Anyone who now thinks that the hydrogen network expansion is finally absorbing speed is wrong! If the bureaucracy does not finally become slimmer, we are faced with a massive blockade: urgently needed investments could be pushed onto the long bench, and the hydrogen high run threatens to stagnate.

The shadows of the editions

A spicy detail: The gas distribution networks are vital for around 20 million households and around 1.8 million medium -sized companies. The processing industry and district heating supply also hang on these lines. An environmentally friendly revolution could take place with hydrogen and its derivatives. But this is only a dream scenario if the regulation acts as a clumsy inhibitory shoe!

Current laws, such as the building energy law and the regulations on municipal heat planning, are not suitable for all user groups. "A practical adaptation of the requirements is essential," Kehler demands determined. Otherwise, the central role of the distribution networks for the medium -sized economy could be at risk - and with it the entire energy transition!

The pressure grows, because the time for change is pushing. Let's wait and see whether the bureaucrats recognize the signs of the times or whether we remain trapped in the fog of the regulations. One thing is certain: the hydrogen revolution requires a fresh wind, and it has to come very quickly now!

Berlin: The place where decisions are made that could influence the fate of the energy transition. Hydrogen - the juice of the future - needs clear, understandable rules so that we do not get stuck in the bureaucratic thicket.
