Günther: Söder's criticism of black and green coalitions is strategically wrong
Politics in turmoil! Daniel Günther, the dynamic Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein and the face of the CDU in the north, had it "under 3" with bold words in the Phoenix politics podcast. His attack? Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder and his confused view of the black and green coalitions in the Bundestag. Günther does not take a leaf out of his mouth: "Söder's attitude is not only strategic, but also in terms of content!"
In the middle of the political turbulence, the CDU state chairwoman urges: "It is a difficult mistake to say in advance that you can only rule with a specific party!" He thus alludes to the one -sided orientation of Söder, which is not only risky for Günther, but also nonsensical. He has only one clear advice: working with all democratic parties must be our goal in order to never get into a political tightness.
Günther counters Söder
The heated debate was sparked when Söder accused Günther and NRW Prime Minister Wüst at the CSU party conference that they would make strategic mistakes with their black and green approaches. Günther counters the accusation with a sharp point: "Söder builds up his own position on an assumption. I and Hendrik Wüst have certainly not walked through the country and said that black and green is the only option for the Bundestag election!"
Günther emphasizes that in one's own political work, it is not just about badly talking the competition in order to gain their own popularity. "This is not a sign of strength," he says. Rather, the CDU had to proudly move into the Bundestag election and put its own strengths in the foreground. Political strength is not achieved by devaluations, but through cooperation and dealing with the realities of the political landscape.
This bold discussion throws a light on the strategic challenges with which the CDU is confronted. While Söder, as chairman of the CSU, insists on a confrontative line, Günther shows that there is another way - with a clear commitment to cooperation and an open attitude towards other parties.
