Property tax chaos: notices delayed-owner in need!
The property tax storm is drawing: in the largest cities in Germany there is shocking chaos! At least 22 of the 25 largest cities in Germany have announced the alarming news: the new property tax notices will only be sent in January or even later! A real nightmare for countless property owners who are already facing the financial abyss.
The deadline is approaching! On February 15, 2025, the first quarterly payments for the new property tax must be made. However, many affected people still do not know how high these payments will be. For many, the unforeseen costs could be skyrocketed and several thousand euros! One thing is certain: a shock for the owners who are suddenly faced with enormous financial pressure.
the cities in deficit
In order to clarify the confusion of when property owners can expect their modest, the independent Finanztip Foundation has sought direct contact with the 25 largest German cities as a ray. The result? A disturbing picture: 22 cities definitely only want to start shipping in 2025! There is still no clear shipping time in Augsburg, while the city of Frankfurt am Main is absolutely covered. Only Berlin takes the first step and has already started sending the long -awaited notices that are to be sent by the end of the year.
Tax expert Jörg Leine from Finanztip does not leave good hair at the reform: "This is an absolute property tax chaos! Two years ago, millions of property tax returns for 36 million plots had to be submitted within a very short period of time, which led to a flood of objections." The injustice becomes increasingly clear: while owners are under pressure to submit their explanations on time, the dispatch of the notices is a long time coming and exacerbates the already critical situation.
The root of the problem
Background of the whole is a fundamental judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court from 2018, which classifies the previous property tax as unconstitutional. This has been raised for decades based on outdated values. That is why a new property tax will be required from 2025 - but under catastrophic conditions!
Particularly explosive: For some owners it could be really expensive! The missed delivery of the notices often leaves those affected only a few weeks to raise the unforeseen payments. "Unplanned costs in the four -digit range are not uncommon!" Warns Leine urgently and makes it clear that we are talking about a flood of financial difficulties here.
An overview of the planned shipping times of the 25 largest cities in Germany remains the only light at the end of the tunnel. The property tax is only the beginning of a possible year-long degradation-and who knows what else is coming? Stay vigilant!
