Great damage after renewed ATM blast in Berlin-Lichtenberg.

Another ATM in the shopping center on Rostocker Strasse in Neu-Hohenschönhausen (Lichtenberg) was blown up. As early as spring, unknown persons had blown up the ATMs and caused massive damage in surrounding shops. The renewed explosion was noticed on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and it probably took place at night. The perpetrators pried open the entrance doors and then blew up the machine. Significant damage to property occurred, and whether the perpetrators captured something was initially not communicated. There is a suspicion that stolen spreads of the fire brigade were used as a burglary tool.
The renewed demolition of an ATM has again caused a sensation and concern in the Berlin population. The citizens of Lichtenberg are concerned about security in their district, as this is already the second incident in the same shopping center. The perpetrators seem to become more and more violent and accept considerable damage to property. This can lead to uncertainty of the population and possibly also to a decline in business in the affected areas.
The Berlin police have repeatedly announced increased controls and measures to secure ATMs to prevent such incidents. Unfortunately, however, these measures do not seem to be sufficient to keep the perpetrators from further explosions. The use of stolen firefighting tools also shows that the perpetrators are becoming increasingly inventive to achieve their goals.
It is important that the police and the authorities in Berlin take further measures to ensure the safety of ATMs and public security in general. Additional surveillance cameras, increased police presence and cooperation with security companies could help prevent the crimes and identify the perpetrators. The population is also invited to report suspicious activities of the police and to remain vigilant.
The renewed demolition of an ATM again shows the need for an improved security infrastructure and strategy in Berlin. Citizens have to feel safe and be able to restore their trust in the security forces and the authorities in order to ensure the well -being and the economic success of the city.
