Healthy daycare centers in view: Spandau starts new funding program 2026!

Spandau, Berlin, Deutschland - On June 19, 2025, the Spandau district office launched a new program that should support daycare centers in Berlin in health promotion and improve the quality of education. The eighth program will start under the name "Kitas move - for the good healthy daycare center" (LGGK) from 2026. The district councilor for youth and health, Tanja Franzke, emphasizes the essential importance of health formation in early childhood because it leans the basis for a healthy growing up.

The program aims to support daycare centers, want to integrate health as a cross -sectional topic into their everyday life. Everyone involved in day-to-day daycare-including children, parents and specialists-should be addressed in order to increase physical, mental and social well-being. For this initiative, the district office offers individual process supports, further training offers and networking options.

Invitation to participate and information event

interested daycare centers are invited to take part in the program. An information event will take place on July 8, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Spandau town hall, room 235. Information is provided here by the Lggk practice support day care center "Kneipp-Kita Spandau" and district coordination. By September 30, 2025, expressions of interest can be submitted to participate.

The program is based on health promotion in day care centers that aim to create healthy living and working conditions. It includes various subject areas, including nutrition, movement, hygiene, language support as well as addiction and violence prevention. The aim is to shape daycare centers to places healthy living environments and to promote health -relevant attitudes and behaviors. The continuous further development of activities in these areas is crucial for the healthy growth of the children, as different studies show.

background to the study and child health

Health promotion in daycare centers is particularly important because it is based on the results of the “Study on the Health of Children and Young People in Germany” (KIGGS study). This comprehensive study, which was carried out between 2003 and 2017, shows that children in Germany generally have a very good health situation. Almost 96 percent of the parents state that their children have a good to very good state of health. However, about 17 percent of the children show evidence of psychological abnormalities, which illustrates that health well -being depends heavily on social status.

The KIGGS results reflect the assessment of the children's own health, their nutritional behavior and movement patterns as well as the occurrence of emotional and psychological problems. This underlines the need for daycare centers to focus on health promotion in their daily activities. Those interested will receive further information on the website of the good healthy daycare centers in Berlin or by contacting via email or phone.
