Together for mental health: Action week starts at work

alarm level red for mental health at work! Today, the starting signal for the action week for mental health with a tough motto: "Hand in hand for mental health at work". Over 900 events across Germany are the order of the day - tens of thousands from the health sector are also at the start! A clear signal how important and urgent the topic is!

Berlin, 10.10.2024: in a world that changes at a frenzied pace, employees and employers face enormous challenges. The progressive digitization, globalized work structures and a dangerous lack of workers put the nerves of employees under pressure. Stress and mental illnesses shoot up!

a shortage of skilled workers and psychological stress - the dangerous duo!

The recommended limit for mental stress at the workplace is increasingly exceeded. The DAK PsychReport 2024 brings alarming numbers to light: psychologically conditional absenteeism reach a new high - by a whopping 21 % higher than in the previous year! The main cause? Depression, followed by adaptation disorders and other stress reactions.

And what does that mean specifically? Mental illnesses have been the main cause of early retirement for years. The need to improve working conditions hits the face like a slap!

provision and prevention - the key to change!

What does it need now? Preventive measures and well -thought -out occupational health management are needed! Healthy working conditions are not luxury items, but an absolute must! These include scope for decision -making employees, respectful leadership and open communication - all of this contributes to stability.

The BDP now packs up vigorously! With an information series, the association ensures clarity and education about the explosive issue of mental health during this action week. Here the current research is packed onto the table!

a highlight? The lecture by Ivon Ames, who deals with sustainable work designs - a real hit! In addition, the renowned Prof. Dr. Renate Rau from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg take a close look at current health risks through psychological stress. Exciting topics such as first aid psychological aid and strategies for coping with stress are also on the agenda!

The measures are not just a question of quality of life for employees. No, you are also an economic imperative! An active design of working conditions has a direct positive impact on the entire economy - it is high time to change something!
