GdP demands support for Berlin police at Pro-Palestinian demo

According to a report by Berliner Zeitung, the police union (GdP) calls for more support from the federal and state governments with regard to the pro-Palestinian demonstration, which is due to take place in Berlin next Saturday. The GdP state chief Stephan Weh explains that the Berlin police are currently unable to cope with such a complex application situation on their own. The riot police have been working non -stop for two weeks and support is urgently needed for the daily major missions. The Berlin police expect a large influx of around 1000 participants in the demonstration, but there could also be significantly more. The police assume that the ban on the Samidoun network and the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas will lead to emotionalization. The left -wing autonomous scene also called for participation in the protest. So far, the police have not banned a meeting at the weekend, but the action could develop dynamically and prohibitions on the part of the police are possible. In addition, it was announced that there is an initial indictment against a demonstrator who was said to have been involved in the Propalestinian demonstrations in Berlin-Neukölln two weeks ago. Among other things, the man is caused by a serious breach of the peace, tried dangerous bodily harm and assault on enforcement officers. Furthermore, over 1000 procedures in connection with the Middle East conflict have been registered with the police. Among the cases there are 322 acts of violence and 318 property damage. The law enforcement authorities examine the possibility of accelerated procedures in connection with the crimes. (Source: Berliner Zeitung)
