Gas deficiency finally ended: demands for dismantling LNG terminals

a decade believed as endangered - but now Germany breathes up! Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck announced the good news at a citizens' event in Osnabrück: The gas mangellage is a thing of the past! A turning point now concerns the minds: Deutsche Environmental Aid (DUH) loudly demands the immediate abolition of the emergency plan. And that's not all!

Sascha Müller-Kraenner, the angry federal managing director of the DUH, leaves no doubt about it: “The gas stores are full, the supply works perfectly and the prices remain stable. Finally, the ministry has opened its eyes and officially declared the gas deficiency!

alarm level on the test bench

The DUH demands that the alarm level of the emergency plan are immediately downgraded to the early warning level. Why is that so important? because it also includes the further construction of new LNG terminals! Müller-Kraenner vigorously demands: "The LNG acceleration law, which enables new systems with less legal protection in record time, must be withdrawn immediately!"

The critics find clear words for the controversial LNG terminal on the island of Rügen. "This building has to be demolished in order to alleviate the environmental pollution for nature and the people on site!"

A step towards more environmental awareness? The answer remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: a new chapter in energy policy is opened. Are the voices of the environmentalists heard or does everything remain the same? Germany looks forward to the next steps of the government!
